DMHC Monitoring Access to Behavioral Health Care Services at Kaiser Permanente During Strike

(Sacramento) –  The California Department of Managed Health Care (DMHC) is monitoring access to behavioral health care services for Californians enrolled in Kaiser Foundation Health Plan, Inc. (Kaiser Permanente) during a behavioral health care labor strike in Southern California.

“Health plans must continue to comply with the law during a labor strike, including meeting timely access standards and providing appropriate mental health and substance use disorder care to members,” said DMHC Director Mary Watanabe. “The DMHC is monitoring Kaiser Permanente’s compliance with the law during the strike to ensure the plan is providing their members with appropriate access to necessary health care services.”

WHAT HEALTH PLAN MEMBERS CAN DO: The DMHC encourages any impacted Kaiser members to first contact the plan’s member services for assistance, and to contact the DMHC Help Center for further assistance at 1-888-466-2219, or online at www.DMHC.ca.gov, if the plan does not resolve the issue or if the health issue is urgent.
