DMHC Director Ehnes issues statement regarding settlement with Anthem Blue Cross to offer coverage to 1770 formerly rescinded members

(Sacramento) — California Department of Managed Health Care Director Cindy Ehnes issued the following statement regarding a settlement with Anthem Blue Cross to restore health care coverage to 1770 Californians after an investigation into their rescission practices:

“Anthem Blue Cross has now agreed to restore coverage to its rescinded members and pay a $10 million fine. This fine is a record amount and sends the message that if you come into California to sell health insurance, you must play by the rules.”
