(Sacramento) – The California Department of Managed Health Care (DMHC) will implement an important security enhancement to its email system on January 19, 2009. A secured email (email encryption) system will be launched to minimize risk when conducting confidential business. The change will allow sensitive, confidential email to be encrypted before it is sent over the Internet.

This enhancement is necessary primarily to protect confidential consumer information, which is handled by the DMHC’s Help Center. The Help Center is a free service to assist consumers in solving issues with their health plans.

Individuals who may receive a secured email from the DMHC can click on the link below to access a document providing instructions on how to receive the secured email.
